About
I’m a writer, strategist and sometime social entrepreneur based in Prince Edward Island.
Over the past three decades, I’ve built a communications company, founded and led a Canadian-American environmental organization, and served as the founding Canada Director of The ONE Campaign, the international advocacy organization co-founded by Bono.
I now work independently, advising organizations and leaders on communications, public policy, campaigns and storytelling. I’m also spending more of my time writing.
Words matter...
In 2022, I wrote the stories and editorial content for Canada’s Food Island Cookbook. It quickly became a national bestseller.
My nonfiction has appeared in The Globe and Mail, Maclean’s, Reader’s Digest, The Toronto Star, The Hill Times, The Guardian and other publications.

I’m currently working on literary nonfiction exploring place, family, inheritance, grief and memory.
...and so does place
In 1994, I bought a ten-acre clear-cut in Hartsville, Prince Edward Island. The following spring, family and friends gathered to plant 8,500 trees. I built a small cabin there with my father in 1995 and have been planting, building, walking and writing about the place ever since.
That cabin, Walden, is now my home and a small guest retreat that I share through Airbnb.
